On Monday, news broke that the International Olympic Committee has approved 5 new sports for the 2028 Olympics. Los Angeles will be the host of the prestigious games for the first time since 1984.
The 5 sports that have been added to the games are Baseball/Softball, Flag Football, Lacrosse, Squash, and Cricket. LA28 Organizers endorsed the additions earlier this month, and IOC approved them all.
Ultimately, this is a huge win for the NFL and American Football. Over the last few years, the NFL has been working hard to expand the sport internationally. In 2023, the NFL has planned for 5 games overseas this year.
Flag Football, along with Squash, will be making their Olympic debut in 2028. Cricket, Baseball, and Lacrosse are all returning back to the Olympic lineup.
