To say the Phoenix Suns under achieved in the 2023 NBA playoffs would be an understatement, and is why the trade for Bradley Beal has happened.. The Suns were projected to represent the West in the NBA Finals. The Suns solidified those expectations when they acquired Kevin Durant.
Needless to say, the Suns did not complete the mission and fired their head coach Monty Williams. Williams has since landed a new head coaching job with the Philadelphia 76ers. Also, the Suns made it known that they were moving on from point guard Chris Paul.
At 38 years old, Paul is towards the end of his hall of fame career. Not to mention, Paul has suffered critical injuries in multiple playoff runs for the Suns, Rockets, and Clippers.
Ultimately, the trade for Bradley Beal or any other super star was bound to happen. The Suns trade Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, and a few second-round draft picks.
In adding Beal, the Suns teams him up with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Two players that have the win at all cost ability. This will be the best roster Beal has played with in his career.
As for Chris Paul, he’ll again be tasked with setting the tone on an inexperience team. The Eastern Conference is top heavy, but very winnable. With the additional picks, the Wizards could build a formidable team.
